London — Japanese artist Meiro Koizumi will investigate social and historical taboos in a new work for the BMW Tate Live: Performance Room on 13 June. BMW Tate Live is a four-year partnership between BMW and Tate, which focuses on performance, interdisciplinary art and curating digital space. The BMW Tate Live: Performance Room is a pioneering strand of live, online performances simultaneously seen by international audiences across the globe at: www.youtube.com/user/tate/tatelive.

The Tate Live aims to reach an international audience through new forms of art, addressing audiences changing needs, tastes and interests in art. The initiative creates a new space for collaboration and a programme that encompasses performance, film, sound, installation and learning – areas where artists can take greater risks and experiment freely.

Meiro Koizumi is known for video work that examines generations of Japanese culture and history. Koizumi investigates the boundaries between the private and the public, a domain of specific importance to his native culture. His videos are often based on performances and constructed scenarios where he places characters in awkward situations to focus and enlarge the moment when a situation gets out of control, becomes embarrassing or breaks social rules. Some of the darkest moments of Japanese History, such as the Japanese involvement in WWII, are recurring subjects in his work. For example, “Defect in Vision” 2011 features a Japanese couple discussing a forthcoming holiday. Both are blind. This fact seems unusual when we see the husband’s death in a fighter plane interspersed throughout the film. Koizumi is the third artist in the Performance Room series for 2013.

The global online audience are encouraged to chat with other viewers via social media channels during the performance and to put questions to the artist or curator for the live Q&A following, using their Twitter, Facebook or Google+ accounts. The latest updates will be available by following @TateLive, using #BMWTateLive; Tate Facebook; or Tate Google+.

This innovative format offers international audiences an opportunity to experience entirely new live works at Tate without leaving their computer screens and to join a discussion about the work online. Each performance is archived and available to view online after the live event.

Audiences are invited to enter the online BMW Tate Live Performance Room via www.youtube.com/user/tate/tatelive at 20.00 hrs in the UK and exactly the same moment across time zones on the specified dates – 15.00 hrs on the East Coast of America, 21.00 hrs in mainland Europe and 23.00 hrs in Russia.

Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar, has been declared Interior Designer of the Year in the Automotive Interiors Expo Awards. Hosted by the Automotive Interiors Expo 2013, the second Automotive Interiors Expo Awards was a ceremony that honored the world’s finest designers, innovations and products in the automotive interiors arena. With a judging panel that boasted some of the world’s leading automotive journalists, the Automotive Interiors Expo Awards promise to become one of the most sought-after accolades within the automotive industry.

The list of nominees for designer of the year was created by automotive designers and interior specialists worldwide who were asked to nominate the designer who they believed had not only made the largest contribution to improving cabin quality, innovation and environment over the last 12 months, but whose efforts on a subjective and aesthetic level were judged to be industry leading or indeed changing. They were not allowed to nominate themselves or a colleague employed by the same company. Under his stewardship, design director Ian Callum has helped realize an all-new interior styling direction for the legendary British car maker, with a dynamic and vibrant sporting-style interior adopted for the groundbreaking new F-Type, which drew inspiration from fighter airplane cockpits. The controls, for example, are ergonomically grouped by function and further aeronautical inspiration can be found in the joystick-shaped SportShift selector controlling the eight-speed transmission. The air vents on top of the dashboard are a particularly neat styling touch and only deploy when instructed to by either the driver or complex control algorithms.

Commenting on the news, Callum said: “It’s an honor to receive this award. I find it hugely gratifying that I and Jaguar Design are being recognized for interior design.

“The interiors of Jaguars have always been very special places for me personally, and so it has been essential to create new, fresh ideas, while maintaining the warmth and fun that is true to the brand. We set out to create interior environments that not only work well, but create a sense of theatre and occasion. I am very proud of my team, having achieved this with such conviction and clarity in all of our current products: the XF and XJ saloons, the XK and, of course, the new F-TYPE sports car.”

Born in Dumfries, Scotland, Ian studied Industrial Design at Glasgow School of Art and tailored his talents with a two-year course in Automobile Design at the Royal College of Art. His outstanding performance at the Royal College of Art led to him being recruited by Ford in 1978 and he spent 12 years working in the company’s design studios, before going on to work at Ghia, TWR and Aston Martin. Ian joined Jaguar in 1999 and under his direction, Jaguar Design have taken the brand into an exciting new era. Following concepts including the R-Coupe, RD-6 and Advanced Lightweight Coupe, within the space of just three years the Jaguar production range changed completely. The first of the new era of Jaguar cars was the aluminium-bodied XK, this being followed by the XF and current XJ saloons – each representing a further iteration of the marque’s bold new design language. That new design language has been further defined with the recently launched F-TYPE two-seater sports car.

The Porsche Museum is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 911 with one of the most extensive special exhibitions since its opening, an extraordinary retrospective on the 911 until September 29, 2013. More than 40 exhibits in the anniversary exhibition show the wide product range of the 911 from its beginnings to our present day. A 911 R can be admired by fans, of which no more than 19 units were produced in 1967 for a small circle of top-notch private drivers as well as for the Porsche factory itself. A 911 Carrera RSR is on exhibit, with which the sports car manufacturer heralded in a new era in customer sports car racing. One 934 model from 1976 that was part of the field of starters in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, continuing right up to 1982, also contributes to the exhibition. Alongside the original 911 of 1964 and other anniversary models, there are unusual and prominent 911 cars to be discovered. An armoured 911 (996) with safety glass is presented alongside a 911 Carrera, whose former owner was the Spanish singer Julio Iglesias. The range of vehicles shown extends from the original 911 up to the present day, including rare production cars and race cars as well as numerous prototypes, which will be presented to the general public for the first time. Historic brochures, advertisements and posters from the collections of the Porsche archive round off this journey through time, reviewing five decades of 911 history.

Today, the 911, designed by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, is deemed one of the most successful sports cars of all time. More than 820,000 of the 911 were built over the last 50 years. It has gained more than 20,000 racing victories. The Porsche engineers from Zuffenhausen and Weissach have reinvented the 911 in each of the now seven generations, demonstrating the innovativeness of the brand again and again. Like no other vehicle, the 911 combines seemingly contradictory traits such as sportiness and everyday utility, tradition and innovation, exclusiveness and social acceptability, design and functionality – there can be no doubt that it stands for the “Engineered by Porsche” quality seal. Ferry Porsche once put into a nutshell what constitutes the secret of the success of the 911 model range: “The 911 is the only car that you can drive from an African safari to Le Mans, then to the theatre and onto the streets of New York.”

The Exhibit coincides with the launch of a special, limited-edition 50th anniversary 911 model. The rear-wheel drive vehicle is based on the 911 Carrera S, and comes with a 3.8-liter flat six making 400 hp mated to either a seven-speed manual or the dual-clutch PDK transmission. Top speed is estimated to be 186 mph; 0-60 mph takes 4.5 seconds with the manual and 4.3 seconds with the PDK. A sport exhaust system and Porsche’s Active Suspension Management System is also included in the package.

To mark the beginning of the 2013 Maserati Trofeo World Series, the MaseratiStore will be carrying a new line of luxury clothing. The aptly named, MC Trofeo 2013 clothing line will have collections for both men and women. The design will mimic that of the clothing worn by racing drivers while also displaying the Maserati Corse branding. The MaseratiStore is known for their unique luxury items boasting the iconic Maserati logo, blending racing performance with classic style.

The clothing from the official Maserati Corse line dedicated to the Trofeo MC World Series 2013 is characterised by the “99 YRS” logo, reminding us of the 99-year history of the Modena firm.

The special motif, which combines the Maserati blue with red and white, reproduces the new colours of the GranTurismo MC Trofeo, protagonist of the prestigious Maserati one-make series, meanwhile the red colour on the inside of the collar is reminiscent of the engine bonnet of the Maserati GranTurismo.

A few examples of the unique clothing that will be offered as part of this line are the Trofeo13 Men’s sneakers ($221), the Trofeo13 Windproof jacket with detachable sleeves ($208), and the Trofeo13 Men’s cargo trousers ($138) The official Maserati Corse attire line dedicated to the MC World Series Trophy includes carefully made garments distinguished by an original design and reproduction of a number plate holder, with number 33 impressed on it. This is the number used by Maserati when it returned to racing in 2004, with its MC12 GT1. A car that was an era unto itself winning a total of 14 Driver and Constructor titles over a 6 year period, becoming the landmark of Maserati Corse’s huge racing spirit.

The Men’s short-sleeved t-shirt is made from 100% smooth cotton jersey, with elasticised jersey collar and the MC label at the bottom. The two logos that characterise the line are printed on the chest: Maserati Trophy on the left and MC on the right; there is a large Maserati Corse logo printed on the back to highlight your passion for this exclusive world. The women’s vest top has Maserati Corse branding on the chest and back, where you’ll also find the “99 YRS” logo at the bottom.

The Full-zipped jacket in the exclusive triple-layer Soft-Shell fabric is the official uniform of the Maserati MC Trofeo Team. This wind breaker is water resistant and breathable, in blue/white colour with red piping, it features the Maserati Corse logo embroidered on the chest and a large Maserati Trofeo logo embroidered on the back. The MC logo on the right and the official Pirelli logo embroidered on both sleeves complete the racing look.

May 5th Detroit – Cadillac Launched “Style Driven” — a four-part video series that provides a unique behind-the-scenes look at the life of fashion stylist Erin Walsh as she curates tailor made outfits for guests attending the famous Costume Institute Benefit at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The Met Ball is an annual ball that celebrates the annual opening of the Metropolitan Museum’s fashion exhibit at the Costume Institute. The theme celebrated the museum’s “Punk: Chaos to Couture,” which opened to the public on May 9.

The video series follows Walsh as she makes her way through New York City in a Cadillac SRX picking dresses and jewelry for Gerwig. The SRX is a daringly distinctive luxury crossover that serves up equal doses of refinement and exhilaration. From its bold exterior design to the subtle elegance of available heated and ventilated seats, the SRX is pure Cadillac. Throughout the series, Walsh offers insights into her process, the importance of the Met Gala and how Cadillac helps her make everything possible.

Walsh’s keen eye for the beautiful and unique within fashion has propelled her to be one of the most sought-after stylists, and has already consulted the likes of Kristen Wiig, Kerry Washington and Gwyneth Paltrow. This year, Walsh styles actress Greta Gerwig for the Met Gala.

“I have always marveled at the synchronicity of form and function in creative design,” said Walsh. “To me, something beautiful, especially when it comes to fashion, should be made with an attention to detail that reflects this aesthetic. It is not inherent to design but rather takes a certain attention to detail and one that I do look for in architecture, theater, art, cinema and especially in brands that are capable of consistently guarding the marriage of art and commerce. Cadillac is so clearly an example of this, historically and today.”

The annual Costume Institute Benefit features a who’s who in fashion and culture with celebrity attendees from film, music and fashion. In addition to the video series, Cadillac will provide VIP valet service to a select group of celebrities attending the event.

“Fashion and design are territories that easily mesh with Cadillac’s Art and Science philosophy,” said Melody Lee, director of brand and reputation strategy. “Working with the team on the Vogue.TV video series to showcase Erin’s unique approach in creating beautiful style ensembles is quite similar to the meticulous craftsmanship that goes into the design of Cadillac vehicles like the SRX.”

Essence Musk is the latest in Ferrari’s Essence Collection, which also includes Silver Essence and Essence Oud. Ferrari Essence Musk offers a sophisticated and luxurious combination of scents that demonstrates Ferrari’s commitment to the best quality ingredients, as well as the precision craftsmanship that goes into any product with the Ferrari name. The fragrance is inspired by the Ferrari Gran Turismo car and translated into olfactory art by the prestigious perfumers at Symrise Scent & Care division. The composition is built around white musk, a clean, smooth and sweet scent that accentuates the comfort of a Ferrari interior. The car’s sensual curves and powerful engine are represented by the top notes, providing a tantalizing blend of white grapefruit with sea notes and fresh mandarin leaves. Other dominant notes are nutmeg, white mint, watermelon and lavender, while the base incorporates vetiver bourbon, amber, cedar and fresh, sensual white musk.

In order for Essence Musk to leave a long-‐lasting trail on the skin, perfumers of the house of Symrise added a special element called SymFresh, a patented molecule that is capable of neutralizing several unpleasant smells, enabling an enduring and extremely fresh effect. What you get is a fresh and restorative fragrance that will give anybody who wears it a sense of calm and tranquility. The fragrance is housed in an opaque white bottle with a sliver Ferrari logo in front. It has a silver cap lined with a white leather along the sides. It is available in 100ml EDP spray bottle.

In 1999 Ferrari made their first steps into a completely new direction by launching the brand’s first perfume, Ferrari Black. Since the original fragrance’s commercial success, the company has expanded its product line in an effort to give the wearer the feeling of owning a piece of merchandise from a world-‐famous and exclusive luxury brand. Over the years, with the release of new supercars, Ferrari has matched their automotive innovation with new, intriguing fragrance compositions. In 2003 a new scent composed of elegant notes around an intense patchouli with the well thought-‐out name of Ferrari Racing was launched. In 2009 Ferrari launched the Scuderia Spider M16 along with a woody, spicy and aromatic fragrance: Ferrari Uomo. In 2010 the new car model 458 was unveiled to the world along with the fragrance Scuderia Ferrari. The new Ferrari Essence musk is yet another jewel to add to the brands illustrious history, an indication of the companies commitment to excellence across all classes of product. At the same time, the foray into these reasonably priced products has gained a large fan-‐base amongst consumers, inviting every customer to Live in the fast lane!

The 918 Spyder continues a long tradition of super sports cars at Porsche; using technology platforms as the driving force behind both car emotion and car evolution. Porsche ha produced the ultimate sports cars of their decades: the Carrera GTS, the first Porsche Turbo, the 959, the 911 GT1, the Carrera GT. Yet more than any of its predecessors, the 918 Spyder is providing key impetus in the development of technologies for future vehicle concepts. It offers a complete package of components that reflect Porsche DNA – more concentrated than ever before. The 918 Spyder embodies the essence of the Porsche idea, combing sports racing technology with excellent everyday utility— maximum performance with minimum consumption.

The 918 Spyder delivers world-class efficiency with unparalleled power. The 4.6-litre, eight cylinder engine that 608 hp of power, derived directly from the power unit of the successful RS Spyder, delivering engine speeds of up to 9,150 rpm. This is coupled to the hybrid module, since the 918 Spyder is designed as a parallel hybrid like the current hybrid models from Porsche. Essentially, the hybrid module comprises a 115 kW electric motor and a decoupler that serves as the connection with the combustion engine. Because of its parallel hybrid configuration, the 918 Spyder can be powered at the rear axle either individually by the combustion engine or electric motor or via both drives jointly. As a plug-in hybrid vehicle, it systematically combines the dynamic performance of a racing machine with over 880 hp and low NEDC fuel consumption, which at about three liters of fuel per 100 km is better than that of most small cars today. To sum it up: maximum driving fun with minimal fuel consumption.

This is in large part due to the beautifully engineered multi-link chassis; the structural concept of the 918 Spyder with a rolling chassis as its basis – a basic vehicle that can be driven even without a body – is race car tradition at Porsche. Here, variable driving conditions are integrated into a hybrid drive, providing five separate operating modes that an onboard computer initiates depending on the situation. This provides additional, individually controllable front drive options; new driving strategies for extremely high, safe cornering speeds can be implemented, especially for bends. Furthermore, the advanced “boost” strategy manages the energy of the electric drive so intelligently that, for every sprint with maximum acceleration, the full power of the 918 Spyder can be tapped into by simply pressing the accelerator down fully. In short, the 918 Spyder allows even drivers without motorsport training to experience the potential of advanced longitudinal and transverse dynamics.

This is more than a supercar, primed to break records across vehicle classes, It is a singular vehicle design paving the way of a new automotive future.

Tesla is a luxury car manufacturer that produces exclusively electric cars. Their new Model S is really catching the attention of both car enthusiasts and environmentalists. The fully-electric car creates absolutely zero emissions and starts at an affordable $52,400 for the basic model. Moreover, the Model S has recently been granted the 2013 Motor Trend Car of The Year.

The company has been experiencing great success in the year of 2013, Tesla has sold more vehicles in the first quarter than competitors like Mercedes Benz, BMW and Audi. The Tesla company represents a new era of vehicles that are not only super luxurious and very attractive, but eco-friendly and can sustain a promising future that is free from the harmful emissions of fossil fuels.

There are many attractive feature of the Model S besides its great environmental effects. The interior of the car is sleek and packed with cutting-edge technology. The center console touts an iPad-like multi-color touchscreen display with controls and interior vehicle information. The car is also a breeze to drive, the long wheel base offers maximum control; test-drivers have compared it to the likes of a BMW sports sedan. The car is liquid-cooled and the motor produces a horsepower of 362 with 325 pound-feet of torque. Performance models have 415 horses with 443 pound-feet. The car is also spacious with five doors and seven seats with a total load capacity of 63.4 cubic feet. The car also rates very high in terms of safety; the car’s mass is down low and between the wheels, making it an overall stable vehicle. The Model S is definitely a great car to take on a long road trip, using a quarter of the energy required from a traditionally fueled car.

The Tesla cars are unique as they cannot be filled at a typical gas station. The car plugs into any electric outlet as well as at a Supercharger station. Tesla is working on adding more Supercharger road stations to their current network close to highways and in major cities. At these stations, Tesla drivers get to recharge their car for free. California and Nevada currently have the most stations installed and more are coming to the East Coast, Texas, Chicago, and Seattle. An ideal situation would be to have a station every 120-150 miles, said CEO Elon Musk. A charge of the on-board lithium-ion battery pack can ensure a drive of 300 miles or more. The future of new transportation methods are upon us, get ready to see Tesla Model S vehicles catching your eye as they whiz by you on the road to lessen green-house gas emissions.

Maserati was founded in Bologna on 1 December 1914 as ‘Officine Alfieri Maserati’. In 1926, what started as the Maserati workshop, tuning or developing the vehicles of other companies, transformed into a company designing, building and selling its own. The Maserati brothers adopted the symbol of the Trident and made it the logo synthesizing the new company in a single image. Maserati has been part of the Fiat Group since 2005 and is a leader in luxury sedans and sports cars, representing Italian sophistication, elegance and style throughout the 60 countries where they are sold, and around the world. Maserati celebrated the start of 2013 with the introduction of the new Quattroporte at the Detroit Motor Show, and just in time for the forthcoming Maserati Centenial in 2014, Maserati has joined forces with world renowned luxury menswear brand Zenga to produce a limited edition of the Maserati flagship, reinterpreted and customized with new colors, materials and trims.

Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Fiat Group, and Gildo Zegna, CEO of Ermenegildo Zegna Group, signed a three-year agreement giving birth to a long-term partnership between the two brands, both representing Italian design and manufacturing excellence worldwide. The new Maserati Quattroporte by Ermenegildo Zegna, inspired by the collections of a leading fashion Group in men’s global luxury, will feature an extremely comfortable interior, evoking the timeless charm of the Italian lifestyle. Within 2015, a whole range of new optional trims by Zegna will be available for all Maserati models. In 2016, taking advantage of the Zegna Group long-term experience in ‘custom-made’ fashion clothes, Maserati will approach new tailor-made solutions, with new colours and trims exclusively available. The Quattroporte Limited Edition launch will be supported by a communication campaign and a series of important international events, while the partnership includes special initiatives reserved to top customers of the two brands. The first prototype will be unveiled during one of the forthcoming International Auto Shows, and the limited edition will be produced in 100 units only.

“The partnership between Maserati and Ermenegildo Zegna Group is the meeting point of two leading companies representing pioneering Italian design and manufacturing – said Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Fiat Chrysler Group and President of Maserati. “Maserati is a prestigious automotive brand, standing at the edge of an unparalleled strategic and industrial growth in terms of products and market presence. The partnership with an equally prominent company as Ermenegildo Zegna will benefit both brands and the Fiat Chrysler Group”

The Ermenegildo Zegna Group is a leading luxury menswear brand and one of the most renowned businesses in Italy. Founded in 1910 in Trivero, in the Biella Alps, by the young entrepreneur Ermenegildo, the company is managed today by the fourth generation of the Zegna family with Gildo Zegna as CEO. Ermenegildo’s vision was to ethically create the world’s finest textiles through innovation and the sourcing of the noblest fibres directly from their markets of origin. Since the late 1980s, the company has implemented a comprehensive strategy of verticalization, creating a global luxury brand which now ranges from fabric to clothing to accessories.
Ermenegildo Zegna celebrated 100 years of excellence in 2010. Today there are 557 Zegna stores (311 company-owned) in 87 countries around the world.

The Lamborghini 50th Anniversary Grand Tour, expected to be one of the biggest Lamborghini rallies in history, will run the length of Italy, and will be attended by Lamborghini owners and dealers from across the world. This global event will witness hundreds of vintage and modern-day Lamborghinis from every corner of the globe, as they march through 1200 km of Italy’s roads covering some of the country’s most beautiful cities. Setting off from Piazza Castello in Milan starting at 10 a.m. the Lamborghini 50th Anniversary Grand Tour is the largest gathering ever of cars from the “House of the Raging Bull”, organized to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary: a convoy of some 4 km long and 190,000 hp on the road.

A photograph of the 350 participating Lamborghinis shows 29 different countries of origin of the participants, who have traveled to Italy to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the company based in Emilia Romagna. The most substantial representation of participants in the Lamborghini Grand Tour is from the United Kingdom with 71 cars followed by Italy, Germany and Switzerland with over 30 participants each. In addition, there are 21 cars with plates from the USA and 17 from China. The other countries represented are: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Principato di Monaco, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, The Netherlands, Tunisia, Ukraine. The Gallardo makes up the bulk of the 350-strong parade (123 cars), which makes sense considering it is the most successful automobile for the brand. But there are a variety of other models, including: 36 Murcielagos, 21 Diablos, 17 Miuras, 15 Countachs, eight Espadas, six Urracos, five 400 GTs, three 350 GTs, two Jaramas and even an LM 002, along with a number Aventadors.

The first destination of the Lamborghini Grand Tour was Bobbio, the soul of the Trebbia Valley, then concluding in Forte dei Marmi, one of the most exclusive seaside resorts on the Tyrrhenian coast. After Forte dei Marmi, the convoy arrived in Rome on the 9th, passing through the base of the 4° Stormo of Air Force at Grosseto. The morning of May 10 it will restart again in the direction of Bologna, crossing the towns of Orvieto, Arezzo and San Giustino Valdarno, where all participants will stop for lunch at the Tenuta il Bobbio. On the evening of the 10th, the cars will arrive in the center of Bologna, where the city will offer a welcome in the prestigious setting of Palazzo Re Enzo. The next morning in Piazza Maggiore the ‘Concorso di Eleganza Lamborghini 50° Anniversario’ will be held, which is open to all the historic cars participating in the tour, from the first 350 GT up to the latest Countach model. On the 11th, the Tour will end in Sant’Agata Bolognese, headquarters of the House of the Raging Bull, where a gala dinner celebrating the Lamborghini 50th Anniversary will be held.

Lamborghinis historic beginnings can be traced back to Ferrucio Lamborghini’s take on Enzo Ferrari’s 250. Ferrucio, a wealthy Italian industrialist, was a British prisoner of was during WW2 and owned an air-conditioning company. After the launch of the Ferrari 250, Ferrucio believed he could make an automobile and brand that could rival his Italian peers, demonstrating an aptitude for precision engineering and expert craftsmanship. 50 years later, Lamborghini has become a world-recognized icon. This anniversary event celebrates the past successes of the brand while demonstrating Lamborghinis well-deserved place at the helm of automotive design and innovation for years to come.
